If you’re transporting a bicycle or carrying extra luggage on your car, it is crucial to install a proper bicycle rack and ensure that your vehicle’s number plate remains clearly visible at all times. Failing to comply with this requirement could result in severe penalties under the UAE’s new Federal Decree-Law No. 14 of 2024 on Traffic Regulation.
Article 34 of the law imposes strict consequences for violations related to licence plates. Offenders may face imprisonment, a minimum fine of Dh20,000, or both.
Additionally, driving a vehicle without a number plate carries the following penalties:
- A fine of Dh3,000
- 23 black points on the driving record
- Vehicle impoundment for 90 days
Adhering to these regulations is essential to avoid significant fines and legal repercussions.
