Dubai will implement gradual road closures on December 31 to manage traffic flow during New Year’s Eve celebrations, a senior official from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Tuesday.
Hussain Al Bana, Executive Director of Traffic at the RTA, advised residents and visitors heading to Downtown Dubai or other popular fireworks destinations to start their journeys early and use public transport to avoid congestion. For those not attending the festivities, he recommended leaving the area well before the closures begin.
The closures will start at 4 PM and will be phased to accommodate the heavy footfall. The affected routes include:
- Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard: Closed from 4 PM
- Financial Centre Street (Lower Deck): Closed from 4 PM
- Al Mustaqbal Street: Closed from 4 PM
- Burj Khalifa Street: Closed from 4 PM
- Al Asayel Road: Closed from 4 PM
- Al Sukuk Street: Closed from 8 PM
- Upper Level of the Financial Road: Closed from 9 PM
- Sheikh Zayed Road: Gradual closure starting at 11 PM
The RTA emphasizes early planning and reliance on public transportation to ensure a smooth and enjoyable New Year’s Eve experience.
