H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), has unveiled the Middle East’s first drone delivery system at Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO). DSO, a special economic zone for knowledge and innovation and part of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ), hosted the launch event.
Sheikh Hamdan initiated the system by placing the first order through the platform developed at the Rochester Institute of Technology-Dubai (RIT-Dubai), a designated landing point within DSO’s drone delivery network. The delivery was successfully completed from one of the community’s take-off points.
He emphasized Dubai’s dedication to advancing infrastructure and fostering innovation in smart logistics and air transport solutions. This initiative aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to position Dubai as a global leader among future-ready cities.
