Dubai Metro and Tram services will operate nonstop for over 43 hours starting December 31 to accommodate the large crowds expected during New Year’s Eve celebrations, a senior Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) official announced on Tuesday.
The extended operating hours aim to ease congestion and encourage the use of public transport for smoother travel. Dubai Metro will run continuously from 5 AM on December 31 until the end of January 1, while Dubai Tram will operate from 6 AM on December 31 until 1 AM on January 2.
To further support the public, the RTA is deploying 1,400 buses, available free of charge, to facilitate movement across the city during the celebrations.
Hussain Al Bana, Executive Director of Traffic at the RTA, highlighted that the nonstop Metro and Tram operations, additional parking facilities, and complimentary bus services are designed to offer convenient and efficient transport options while minimizing traffic congestion.
The Dubai Mall Metro Station will close at 5 PM or earlier if it reaches maximum crowd capacity. Public transport users are encouraged to use alternative nearby metro stations to access the festivities.
