Dubai Customs announced on Sunday that it has expanded its team of inspectors at Dubai International Airport to manage the anticipated surge in travelers over the coming years.

The authority has deployed 77 inspection devices, including 58 for large luggage and 19 for hand luggage, along with additional tools to support inspection operations. Dubai International (DXB) recently projected a significant increase in travelers during the winter holiday season, expecting over 5.2 million guests between December 13 and 31, with a daily average of 274,000 travelers. Peak activity is anticipated from December 20 to 22, with an estimated 880,000 guests passing through during the weekend.

To streamline passenger processes during the busy holiday period, Dubai Customs is leveraging advanced digital solutions and increasing its number of inspection officers. Among the innovations introduced is the smart iDeclare app, which enables travelers to declare goods, personal belongings, gifts, currencies, and cash in advance. The app also facilitates pre-arrival transaction processing, reducing customs clearance times at the red channel to under four minutes.
